Wide Range of Facilities



TTC has a wide range of facilities to assist transit companies test to evaluate their vehicles curving ability, component wear, and ride quality issues. In many cases, these tests are augmented with TTCI's vehicle dynamics program NUCARS®.

NUCARS® is a sophisticated simulation model for evaluating the dynamic interaction of railway vehicles and track. NUCARS® is capable of simulating the response of any type of rail vehicle B locomotives, freight, passenger, and transit vehicles, including multiple and articulated cars B while running on virtually any track. TTC's unique transit test facilities are used by transit equipment suppliers and agencies for safety, performance specification compliance, qualification, endurance testing, crashworthiness, and problem solving. TTCI can perform dynamic safety criteria testing and evaluate the vehicle's ability to safely negotiate track conditions.

Other services, such as diagnostics of noise and vibration sources, are also performed by TTCI and Harris, Miller, Miller, & Hanson Inc. (HMMH). We have teamed to offer comprehensive services for our customers in the measurement, analysis, and abatement of rail system noise and vibration concerns. These services, including advanced measurement and analysis methods, are offered at TTC and at customer sites around the world. TTCI experts travel throughout the U.S. and North America solving specific transportation problems. As well as supporting the research and testing needs of the AAR member railroads, TTCI has done extensive testing for nonmembers. The Los Angeles Blue Line, Sacramento Regional Transit Authority, and Maryland MARC are only a few of TTCI's nonmember customers. TTCI has been active in the foreign market ad has successfully completed projects for British Rail, Sao Paulo Metro, Brazil, Chinese Railways, and the Indian Railways.

    The wide variety of test tracks, mechanical test machines, sophisticated vibration equipment, unusual instruments, and unrestricted clearances contribute to precise control of almost any test parameter. TTC’s remote location minimizes the potential for third party damage, adverse publicity, or even environmental complaints.
